Employee Spotlight: A peek into Textron’s university recruiting

Each fall, Textron recruiters travel to campuses across the country to meet students interested in internships and early career roles. For many, the first person they meet is someone like Glory Ramos, university relations supervisor at Textron Systems, who helps bring early talent into the business and make sure their journey starts off strong.

We caught up with her to learn more about her career path and what it is like working in university recruiting.

Glory’s Path to Textron

While on campus for her graduate program, Glory received an email about an upcoming Textron visit that caught her eye.

“I thought, let me go see what this is about,” she says.

That decision led to an internship in human resources at Textron Systems, then a co-op, and eventually a full-time role. Four years later, she now leads programs that support Textron’s early talent strategy.

What keeps her motivated is seeing the impact her work has on others. “It’s not just meeting someone at a career fair you are impacting their life,” she says. “When they get that return offer, I think, they started with me. That’s what makes it so meaningful.”

Being successful in this role means showing up with the right energy and mindset. “You need to be genuine, emotionally aware, and really care about people,” Glory says. “You’re setting the tone for what it feels like to work here.”

The most rewarding moments for Glory came after she led her first summer internship program. After months of planning and mentoring, she attended an event where interns received their return offers. “That was when I realized the work we do really makes a difference,” she says. “We’re helping launch careers.”

Inside university recruiting

At recruiting events, Glory is often the first contact a student will have with Textron. It begins with a conversation and making them feel welcome. “That first impression matters,” she says. “I want people to walk away excited about who we are and what we stand for.”

During these events, recruiters share information about Textron’s culture and early career programs and give students a sense of the projects interns and new graduates might work on. Conversations are designed to feel personal, not one-size-fits-all.

Attending an on-campus recruiting event is just the beginning. At Textron, our teams make it a priority to stay connected with candidates, helping them explore opportunities across the company. We want every potential hire to feel supported with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to show up as their best selves.

After each event, candidates receive ongoing communications that include professional development tips, advice on how to stand out, employee testimonials, and insights into our organization and business units. It’s all part of how we help early talent grow and succeed.
