How ERGs Helped One Employee Find Community And Purpose
At Textron Aviation, employee resource groups (ERGs) give employees a way to connect around shared interests and values. They help people grow in their careers, learn together, and support the communities where they live and work.
For Aditi , a Design Artist Specialist in the Digital Artistry Group, joining Textron Aviation’s sustainability ERG, LEAF (Leaders in Environmental Aviation Future), became a defining part of her experience.
CONNECTING VALUES TO GROWTH
Aditi’s work blends creativity with hands-on execution. She creates interior visualizations of customer aircraft, designs graphics for marketing and engineering teams, and contributes to on-campus remodel projects.
“My work lets me be part of shaping experiences that people see and feel,” she said. “But I’ve always believed that creativity also has a role in how we take care of our community and our environment.”
Her ERG journey started with WINGS, Textron Aviation’s mentorship program for professional growth.
“My ERG journey started with the WINGS Mentorship Group where I had the chance to grow both as a mentor and a mentee,” Aditi said. “Those conversations opened the door to more intentional involvement. After sharing my interest in community engagement and sustainability with my mentor, I was introduced to LEAF.”

“LEAF expanded that [my career] even further by introducing me to people across the company who care about sustainability, environmental stewardship and community.”

BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH SUSTAINABILITY
LEAF focuses on advancing sustainability through education, awareness, and action. The group promotes events such as e‑waste collections, rain barrel sales, and community cleanups. LEAF also leads outreach and learning sessions that connect employees with sustainability leaders across Textron.
“LEAF brings people together through shared passions. Aditi said. “Conversations feel more open and human. At events, people are brainstorming, learning, and listening as equals.”
Being part of this community has allowed Aditi to build genuine connections at work and interact with people she might not have met otherwise.
“What I love most about LEAF is how genuine the interactions are,” Aditi said. “When people come to a meeting or a community event, they’re not talking about deadlines or projects. They’re thinking about how we can make a positive difference together.”
A CULTURE THAT SUPPORTS PURPOSE AND AUTHENTICITY
Through both WINGS and LEAF, Aditi has strengthened her communication and leadership skills and gained confidence advocating for causes that matter to her.
“These groups helped me find my voice,” she said. “They’ve shown me how to lead with empathy and connect purpose with creativity.”
She also gained exposure to new perspectives across the business.
“LEAF expanded that even further by introducing me to people across the company who care about sustainability, environmental stewardship and community,” she said. “Together, these ERGs have made Textron Aviation feel more collaborative, inclusive, and community driven.”
She credits Textron Aviation’s culture for creating space to grow both professionally and personally. “It’s amazing to work for a company that supports employees in exploring what matters to them,” Aditi says. “When you’re encouraged to bring your full self to work, you start to see how much potential you truly have.”
